What I don't get about that site is the links section. You visit this site, post a link to your site, but I don't see this site mentioned anywhere on your links page. How bout a reciprical link?

Can't edit posts from work here, so I just wanted to add something to my last post...

Links are never rejected on this site unless it's blatant spam or someone just pimping a retail type of fly fishing site. The link posted by, Mark, was a completely acceptable link. I'm all for sharing information and I know there are tons of other fly fishing websites to choose from. It would be foolish for me to believe that the only site you guys know about is this one. That's why I don't understand a site like Catskill flies (for example). I believe that they honestly think that their users think their (Catskill flies) forum is the only one on the internet. My opinion is that they take all of their users as idiots (at least the ones who would like to post links or have a watermark on their photo's), and that's why I won't post there. I know it's their forum blah blah blah, and they are spending a good penny on the software to run the forum (PHPBB (FREE)), and I give them alot of credit for putting the time in to set up PHPBB (a good minute if you know how to click on a link and fill in your admin name). ok... sorry... just aggravated this morning.

My issue is that he's got quite a few fly fishing sites listed on his links page. If this site is so insignificant then why post here?

Maybe I'm just reading too far into it but it did annoy me.

Sorry Dennis,

You are completely correct, there should be a link to this site. I will correct that now. It was a case of an enthusiastic amateur webmaster doing too much and missing things.

Check the links page now!

Thanks

Mark

Hi Mark,

Your post was well within the rules. I had my period when I wrote that message. Thanks for the link. Feel free to post here whenever you're hosting an event or if you just want to add something to the forum.

Roy Christie, UK tyer and conservationist, has signed up to give his talk "Tying Emergers and How to Present Them", this has been seen at shows all over Europe. Roy invokes memories of the Kennet, Test and Itchen when explaining the design history of his emergers and talks in detail of his 'sunken tippet' presentation method. This is a must see before heading off to Cairns Pool for the evening hatch. This will happen at 1.30pm each day and last 90 minutes.

Matt Grobert will be tying and signing copies of his book "Fly Fishing New Jersey Trout Streams".

Bob Mead is onboard to tie both days! One of the most talented realsitic tyers in the world. His Praying Mantis is a thing of beauty, it takes about 2 weeks to complete. Absolutely incredible. This is a must see!

We have just added Ralph Graves to the line up.

I love watching Ralph work, he is a consummate master of the art. A living part of the Catskill legend.

We always stop in at Ralph's shop after a days fishing. He's a good friend and a great tyer. I have to work that weekend so I won't be going.

<O:p</O:p

The reason for the show?

<O:p
Conservation.<O:p
<O:p</O:p

The show is not about fly-tying. It is not about fly-fishing. <O:p</O:p

<O:p</O:p

It is about conservation.
It is about raising environmental awareness and donations to carry out the hard work necessary to save our most precious resources; our rivers and streams. Proposed mega-developments, easing of environmental regulations, casinos, polluters and disease present an ever- growing threat to the health of our riparian habitat and cold water fisheries. The Theodore Gordon Flyfishers, Inc. has stood alone or in coalition to fight these battles and control these threats and has done so since 1963.

Please make the effort to support this show and help TGF continue to protect these resources.<O:p</O:p

Mark:

I look forward to meeting you and tying in the show. I was talking to Mark Romero a few days ago. Sounds like the show is going to be the best. TGF I give a thumbs up for the conservation aspect. Board, us tyers will be there and in force, How about all of you doing your part by simply coming out to see us. It will be a good time and a nice way to see some old friends and tell some stories and of course getting a few tips from the tyers. Not to mention there will always be some good to great things to buy. I hope to see you all there on Saturday. As normal, I will be tying classic wet flies from Ray Bergman's book Trout. I also will give a lesson or two on how to tie these classics to any one who simply ask's.

Andy B

Thanks Andy.

Those Bergman flies look great, I also like that he has them displayed before the dry flies in his book. Obviously a man with his priorities in the correct order.

See you at the show.
