So today was beautiful, the wind was low, the lady was at work, and my car isn't running. Being stuck inside with nothing but Call of Duty all day was not appealing in the slightest. Dinner at her mother's was also not helping my unease. Around 5 the lady returns, says dinner is at 6:30. Finally after enough complaining about how the day was wasted, I remember Dunnfield Creek, about 10 minutes from my apartment. I've wanted to Fly Fish the stunning little brookies in that creek since I was little, and only started Fly Fishing in November of last year, so I went there twice. Each time I've had a smack, and a miss, so with trout seasons opening, I put those little riffles behind me. Today was the perfect chance to try again, so we hopped in the car and headed on over there. Alas, the glimmer of an 18 Gold Ribbed Hare's Ear, brought me a hit: Fish on! Nope, he's off, another let down. I figured, I'd give it a few minutes, and try again. Bang! Fish on, and he really was on, I wasn't losing this one. With a fight that could've passed for a 16 inch fish, turned out to be the most beautiful little 9 inch Brown I've ever laid my eyes on. Not the brookie I have been waiting for, but just as splendid. After a nice release, he darted back to his cave. We were there a total of 20 minutes, and I got what I had wanted, so I called it early, tipped off another Fly Angler to my success a few yards up, and off to dinner we went! My day became perfect. I've broken quite a few personal records this month, and that was the best of them.
Here's a picture that the lady took, she's never done any fish photgraphy before, so she focused on me, and not the fish, I mean, could you blame her? :looser:
