Shannon's Fly
To all,
Sunday June 7th from 12noon-5pm Shannon's is hosting its Third Annual Traditional Angler Day at the Raritan Inn. The day celebrates the history and continuing legacy of split cane bamboo fly rods. Master Builder, Dennis Menscer of Little River Rods is coming down along with well known builder Bob Taylor. Jim Murphy and John Shaner of Hardy USA will be displaying their line of traditional products and will be unveiling a new reissue of a Hardy classic as a follow up to the popular reissue of the Hardy Perfect. They will also be helping anglers maintain their Hardy equipment. The event is free and there will be food and sodas. Also if you fish with cane and attend the event you can fish our private water. Hope to see you there!-JH

Got back from the Shannon's gig an hour or so ago, just wanted to say thanks to the guys who put it on for a great time.

Lots and lots of old and new cane to handle, I must have casted 20 myself. A few of my Catskill builder friends, Bob Taylor and Dennis Menscer showed up for some fishing and casting. We had all been offered to fish the clubs private water and I was tempted, but time for me was short and I had to get back home.

Here are a few pics...

I have to say I am totally surprised. I left my late uncle's Montague Redwing with Dennis to recondition for me. When we spoke I was in no rush to get the rod back soon. The expectation was to have it back for fall fishing.

While cleaning my wallet I found his card and called so I could give him my info so he could call me when it was done. He said he was sorry but it was already done and back at Shannon's for over a month. :). If I only called yesterday I would have fished it last night....:crap::looser:

Needless to say I will be picking it up as soon as possible and heading straight out to the river. Thank You to Shannon's for a great event.
Jim I'll see You SOOON :hubbahubba:

You should see if Shannons can ship the rod back to Little River. That way you could pick it up at D's house on the Delaware. This time of year maybe a little later the Trico fishing near his shop is awesome!

I don't need a reason to drive up there. Beside's the rod will not be used up there. and I would rather be here right now. I also like going to Shannon's
