Tying the $3 Serendipity

Matt Grobert

6/0 Olive Danville
Here's a great pattern that originated out in MT, but that I've found works well here in the Northeast. It's very easy to tie and can be also tied using red, black or olive thread.

I have fished this fly on the Madison river...It really is like candy to the trout....The first day I fished I was stubborn and refused to use the "recommended" fly for an hour.....what a dummy, I put one on and my Montana experience began...running up and down the river trying to turn giant wild trout out of a fifty mile riffle ain't easy!!!!

It was fun to watch, too! He finds the fastest water in the river with a steep rock lined bank and hooks big fish........

one dip fishing with another dip. :)
