I haven't found the time yet this spring, but there are plenty along the beach right now. Bass and Tiderunners too. Make sure you have bite tippet tied in for Mr. Razorlips. I like 6" - 10" of fine wire.
Thanks, I usually fish sandy hook with a spinner and clumps of clam. I'm not sure if anyone has any tips on that area where I could fly fish? The ocean side is usually really windy and I've never really tried the bay side.

The beauty of the Hook is that there is a section of it that you can fish in any wind, including a Nor'easter. Know the wind direction before you go and plan accordingly. Fish are on both sides, bay and ocean, as well as the reach between the true Hook and False Hook. South winds are no fun this time of year and I avoid them, but most other directions offer you shelter somewhere. As I come onto the Hook I glass (if it' s light enough) the skies on both sides stopping along the way as I head up it. Look for working birds or other anglers hooked up. If I don't see anything significant happening, I typically wind up at False Hook swinging Deceivers in the rips. Sometimes the rips that set up on Plum Island on the inside during a moving tide. Look for bait and moving water if you're not seeing feeding fish/blitzes.
