Welcome back to the new NEFF. Take a break from Twitter and Facebook. You don't go to Dicks for your fly fishing gear, you go to your local fly fishing store. Enjoy!

Beetle in korea

North? south? You catch any apple trout yet? Or whatever that trout was you were talking about at the fly tying night.

Authentic fried dog legs! YUM!!!! (make sure you get them skinless).

Hey, pretty kewl man, send some pics, would love to see them. Kimchi is the bomb. There is a place in downtown Manhattan by Chase plaza, can't remember the street but it's some pretty damned good food. I love Korean food!

It is going well so far...

Korean beer sucks tho.

They reverse engineer everything American.

Including our beer.

It sucks!

But the food is fantastic, DC.

I will post pics from my trip on Tuesday or Wednesday...

Perhaps I will catch a few cherry trout...

Fishing must be very good...

So good in fact he is too tired after the end of the day to post ANY OF THEM !!!!

Hey... haven't seen you around in a while. How's it going?

Talking to me or beetle? If you mean me. Well I broke my ankle Oct 30th and it has been fun learning how to live on crutches. So everything takes longer for me to do and there were days i was just plain exhausted. But Im slowly coming back. Final x-ray is Dec 15th

Great pics GB. The fish didn't appear to be asian though.

#22 is my favorite.

You'd be right!

Most of the fish were American.

But I did manage a few cherry trout.

Here's another cherry trout for good measure...

And one more...

Ah hell, how about one more?

nice pics. John.
Looks like rainbows, another that looks like a little steelie and a cross between a brookie and rainbow.
Maybe the elusive Cherry trout?
All caught on Bamboo and dry flies right.Maybe even alpaca:)
Two things I'm disappointed in !!!

1. When hugging a fish you must bring it up to your Chest.
2. They weren't caught on a Frost fly Rod.

The latter being my fault.

PS. hows the beer?

Ron, According to my guide, all the fish I caught were rainbows and cherries.

I plan some more trips for exotic trout species...We'll see!!

Korean beer?

Absolutely awful!

Very Nice, you rat bastard. And now I have a jones for Korean food to top off the fish envy.

My friends mom makes some killer Kkakdugi, but my wife makes me keep it in the fridge in the garage. Even in glass tupperware triple bagged, it still stinks the whole house up. I say it keeps the evil spirits away.

Frost Fly Rod with beads. What could be better?

John,

Absolutely beautiful pictures. Those trout are beautiful. Looks like you had a wonderful time!

One thing. You seemed to catch that Korean woman in your pictures on more than 1 occasion. Is she a chick with a dick?

Simms: I thought that one of my rainbows looked a lot like the one you got on the SR: the beautiful colors of my trout reminded me of yours...

Everyone else:

My pictures from Korea are posted at Wild Trout of New Jersey

I had a great trip.

But I'm sure to disappoint you all when I say that I did not travel with my new Donahe bamboo rod.

I am like an overprotective parent, and the thought of TSA agents and customs officials handling the rod carelessly convinced me to leave it at home.

I have some regrets about my decision, but this new Leonard rod of mine is very meaningful to me...

That's why I wanted to bring it.

But it's also why I decided to go ahead and fish with whatever rod Cho (my guide) gave me to fish with...

http://www.riverfly.net

So that's the beginning of my story.

I went to Korea with a suit (for Will's wedding) and a few t shirts, socks and underwear.

Not much more.

And when I started fishing on sunday morning, the fishing gods were angry...

Perhaps I should have brought the 'boo!!!

But after an hour or so, I got a nice bow. *And then another big one!

And we caught a few more bows before lunch...

But no cherry trout.

And I was a bit reluctant to leave the water for any reason at all, including hunger.... And I was definitely hungry.

But I wanted that cherry trout! *I didnt go all the way to Korea for rainbows!

Cho and I enjoyed a great lunch together, notwithstanding that we hadnt achieved our primary goal: the cherry trout!!

We sat on the floor and I basically forgot everything to do with fishing.

Cho is a first rate guy and first class fisherman.

So I enjoyed his company at the restaurant...

Although my legs fell asleep sitting on the floor...

At about 1 30 pm we got back on the water.

And I wondered if I'd achieve my goal.

And at 1 35 or so, I got my first cherry trout.

All my fish were caught on dries, except a big rainbow that I got on a caddis nymph.

Cho tied all the flies I fished.

Check em out!!!

The weather was perfect on Sunday, and even better in Monday! *Perfect for dry fly fishing!

But I didn't fish on Monday.

If I did, I would have gone for lenok: Mongolian trout.

But I didn't have enough time.

I caught 3 more cherry trout, and a few more rainbows before calling it a day.

Cho would have stayed out there longer: I had to convince him that people were expecting me for dinner back in Seoul before he agreed to leave...

Cho was a great guide.

And I was nailing all the risers.

So it was hard to leave for him.

But I hadn't slept in nearly 40 hours.

Not kidding.

I got in some naps here and there: in cho's car, for instance, I slept for nearly 1 hour or so.

But not much more than that.

And I also needed to meet my friends for another night on the town of Seoul, south korea.

So my fishing was over at about 3 10
Pm.

And we headed home.

A great trip.

For everyone involved.
