Coffin Fly - A winner used by the old timers!

Wondering if anyone has had any luck with this fly.
This fly represents the spinner stage.
This is a pattern that some of the old timers like Vic Betters, Ray Bergman and "Red" Wilbur used to fish with in the late evening.

Sounds like a game warden from Westchester County came up with the fly.
 
Thank you for posting this and the answer is yes I always keep a few in the Catskill box and use them on the spinner fall when the parashutes don't produce. It's a great fly that lands and floats nice on the water and it brings fish up to!
 
I always thought that the Coffin fly was effective only after the Green Drakes had hatched and were returning to lay their eggs. Is it useful at other times too?
