Tough times. Now I know what it feels like to be Macfly’s fishing buddy. You accept an offer to row Mac’s boat for the day. And like Mac, you too got skunked.

At first you think it’s because you didn’t get a chance to cast...

But you continue to get skunked for weeks on after.

It’s your worst bout with the “skunk” you’ve ever had.

And of course you begin wondering - did I catch the “skunk” from Mac?

You should be celebrating ...
  1. NJ courts are all but closed.
  2. The legislature is cancelling sessions right and left.
  3. The governor, and his executive orders, are all that's left running the state.
  4. NJ has become just what you wanted, a socialist dictatorship, and the dictator is doing his best to tank the economy before the election.

I am worried about the corona virus.

If you old fossils croak, I will have nobody to make fun of.

So please wash your hands, and call your grand children. I know that the government is shutting down, but atleast Bonanza is still on the television every day at 4pm. Stay in and enjoy!

(seriously hope everyone is safe tho)

That's because they all refuse to social distance. They still need to go to Starbucks for their vegan-caramel-soy-frappe-macchiato-latte that they drink through a staw, and then gather in small groups to talk about how woke they are, and how this virus was engineered by the ruling class and Trump to kill all the poor and people of color.

Gotta be honest though, Mac. Your profile picture... Not sure I would have posted that one. Dinks are the equivalent to a skunk.

We agree for the first time re: social distancing. All the other stuff about woke and trump, I don't know anyone that stupid and I know alot of idiots.

One thing for conservatives to think about is minimum wage. I'm not saying any of you DO or DON'T support working wages for unskilled positions, but it's generally at odds with the conservative agenda....

and right now, grocery-store/pharmacy clerks are saving everyone's ass and risking their own for 37K a year....

you should put a tip jar at the end of the conveyor belt.

Would that be plastic or paper... CHA CHING.

I remember when a lot less than 37K was considered filthy rich...
When I was about to graduate, liberal arts, and business majors were jealous because campus recruiters were offering some engineering majors starting salaries of over 7K a year.

then the minimum wage went up
that drove prices went up
then the minimum wage went up
that drove prices went up
then the minimum wage went up
that drove prices went up
repeat as often as politically feasible

According to Catherine McCabe of the Dept of Environmental Protection all state parks, wildlife mgt areas etc are open for use. so how do you get there? The Gov wants you off the road

Grocery-store/pharmacy clerks? What about the Doctors, Nurses, Cops, Firefighters, EMS workers that literally have sick people coughing all over them every day?

As far as the 37k a year goes, do you expect me to feel guilty for making a good salary, like someone gifted that to me? Fuck that, I worked my ass off for it, dealt with all the stress, in an industry where I can lose my job as quickly as I got it. If you don't like your salary, do something about it instead of waiting for someone to do it for you.

Sounds reasonable to me. I feel the same way.

Sure that was good money, but it was only good money if you had a horse to ride into your new office at the time. :toilet-humor:

Just tell them you are an essential employee if someone stops you. Pretty simple. I am as someone that owns what the government sees as a construction company. Hendricksons just started to hatch locally......

Well I was conflicted about the no travel edict. Understanding the spirit of the proclamation, I also know that me fishing a WTS in the middle of hundreds if not thousands of aces would certainly qualify as social distancing, I still was concerned about being a scofflaw. However now that Rusty says it's ok to break the law and lie to law enforcement I think I'll be back out soon. Thanks for the guidance Rusty.

You should all feel free to drop my name if pulled over. Just use Rusty Spinner and they'll know.

Kidding aside, they should not stop people from being out of doors doing things like solo fishing. That IS social distancing. I've been out twice lately, but both before the new state edicts. However, I am exempt and won't hesitate to tell anyone that if they find me driving to a work site or just to go fishing. Keeping people inside will only add to domestic abuse and weight gain and other things we don't need in our lives. Some outdoors right now is just what the doctor ordered.

Outdoor activities are a listed exemption:

Governor Murphy Announces Statewide Stay at Home Order,
Closure of All Non-Essential Retail Businesses

To mitigate the impact of COVID-19 and protect the capacity of New Jersey’s health care system for the state’s most vulnerable, Governor Phil Murphy today signed Executive Order No. 107, directing all residents to stay at home until further notice. The order provides for certain exceptions, such as obtaining essential goods or services, seeking medical attention, visiting family or close friends, reporting to work, or engaging in outdoor activities.

In effort to strengthen the existing social distancing measures in place, the order also prohibits all gatherings of individuals, such as parties, celebrations, or other social events, unless otherwise authorized by the Order. When in public, individuals must practice social distancing and stay at least six feet apart whenever possible, excluding immediate family members, caretakers, household members, or romantic partners.

Governor Murphy’s Executive Order further directs the closure of all non-essential retail businesses to the public, with the exceptions of:

  • Grocery stores, farmer's markets and farms that sell directly to customers, and other food stores, including retailers that offer a varied assortment of foods comparable to what exists at a grocery store;
  • Pharmacies and medical marijuana dispensaries;
  • Medical supply stores;
  • Gas stations;
  • Convenience stores;
  • Ancillary stores within healthcare facilities;
  • Hardware and home improvement stores;
  • Banks and other financial institutions;
  • Laundromats and dry-cleaning services;
  • Stores that principally sell supplies for children under five years;
  • Pet stores;
  • Liquor stores;
  • Car dealerships, but only for auto maintenance and repair, and auto mechanics;
  • Printing and office supply shops;
  • Mail and delivery stores.

Nothing in the Order shall limit 1) the provision of health care or medical services; 2) access to essential services for low-income residents, such as food banks; 3) the operations of the media; 4) law enforcement agencies, or 5) the operations of the federal government.

Additionally, the order mandates that all businesses or non-profits, wherever practicable, must accommodate their workforce for telework or work-from-home arrangements. To the extent a business or non-profit has employees that cannot perform their functions via telework or work-from-home arrangements, the business or non-profit should make best efforts to reduce staff on site to the minimal number necessary to ensure that essential operations can continue.

Examples of employees who need to be present at their work site in order to perform their job duties include, but are not limited to, law enforcement officers, fire fighters, other first responders, cashiers or store clerks, construction workers, utility workers, repair workers, warehouse workers, lab researchers, IT maintenance workers, janitorial and custodial staff, and certain administrative staff.

The Order continues existing bans on recreational and entertainment businesses, requirements that all restaurants operate by delivery and takeout only, and the directive that all pre-K, elementary, and secondary schools close and all institutions of higher education cease in-person instruction.

Governor Murphy also signed Executive Order No. 108, which invalidates any county or municipal restriction that in any way will or might conflict with any of the provisions of Executive Order No. 107. Municipalities or counties cannot 1) make any additions to or deletions from the list of essential retail businesses; 2) impose any additional limitations on businesses beyond the Governor's Order; 3) impose any additional density or social distancing requirements; or 4) impose any additional restrictions on freedom of movement. The only exceptions are two categories over which municipalities or counties may impose any additional restrictions: 1) online marketplaces for arranging or offering lodging and 2) municipal or county parks.

All additional county and municipality restrictions, subject to the provisions above, are not only invalidated, but, going forward, municipalities or counties may not enact or enforce any rule or ordinance which will or might conflict with any of the provisions of Executive Order No. 107.

My understanding is that Marcal Paper in NJ is producing the rolls you are looking for-in volume

Marcal uses recycled paper.
Recycled paper lacks "fiber strenth".
Environmentally correct, but your finger goes through it way too easily.

You can drive to fish, then fish man, it’s all good:

And the boy caught his first pikes on the Passiaic! IM me and I’ll tell you where they built a brand-spanking new boat launch less then a mile from my house.

Are the TP factories shut down?

I was surprised to read where Marcal is running flat out on the two remaining lines that didn't burn down in last year's massive fire and that this could help them rebuild that company. They lost 8 lines of production if I recall reading that correctly.

How deep are you diggin' Pete?
Just sayin... If you're used to paper made from trees, instead of old magazines, and it turns out to be the only game in town. Learn to be careful, and count on washing your hands twice.

A former classmate was the founder's grandson. I took a tour of their plant once. A significant percentage of the raw materials were published by Playboy. You don't want to go too "deep".
