Welcome back to the new NEFF. Take a break from Twitter and Facebook. You don't go to Dicks for your fly fishing gear, you go to your local fly fishing store. Enjoy!
Just a reminder....The "World of Fly Fishing Show" is this weekend in Danbury CT. If you are going to be there, be sure to stop by the Friends of the Upper Delaware Booth to say hello!
I will be their tying at the Catskill Fly Tyers Guild table. Will be tying Saturday from 12 noon till 6:00 PM and on Sunday from 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM. Let's try to stop by and say hello.
Andy and Bruce.... Andy., I will be back up there on Sunday and will stop by and say hello. Family obligations tomorrow. Heading back up late tomorrow night. Bruce, enjoy but be careful heading up there.... or over there... expecting some nasty weather.
I am just back form Danbury., thank someone its only about a 1 hr drive from my house. I have to say, today was a huge disapointment to almost everyone I spoke with. There were more vendors there than total people all day. Its a shame because it really could be a great show. They have really good people doing seminars. No clicky crap. Just real good people. Why more "civilians" dont show up? who knows. I don't think much publicity goes into it.
Oh and for some Haha's... Guess who was stationed directly across from the FUDR booth... the long lost MAYFLY.
Certainly the weather was a factor, but I think this show is doomed. It is just too close to the Somerset Show in terms of timing. If you were only going to go to one show, wouldn't you go to the Somerset Show, even if you lived near Danbury?
To bad, as the people that run it have worked hard.
To answer your question, No I would rather go to Danbury. Danbury may be smaller in size, but it's a very personal show where you can take your time and cast a rod, sit with the tyers and see and touch items and talk to the vendors. Somerset is a large here they come let's give them a little and take their money. Also not to mention that you can at times barely be able to walk the isles or see things that you want without getting ran over. Plus the tyers and vendors do not have the ime or patience to help you or give you the attention you need in buying items due to to many people to attend to. Danbury and the tying symposium are my to favorite shows. Just my opinion.
