I use a Clinch Knot for connecting flies to tippet. But several times during this trico season using 7x my knots have slipped. Is there a better knot for smaller tippet or is the Clinch knot good enough?
Thanks,
Bruce

In a recent article, Lefty Kreh claims the Orvis (aka Becker) Knot is the strongest one you can use.

In a recent article, Lefty Kreh claims that the Orvis (aka Becker) Knot is the strongest one you can tie. However, keep in mind that in the field you are not tying knots under laboratory conditions and will probably always experience some breakage, regardless of the knot you use.

As Andy mentioned, the Orvis knot is an excellent knot. Check out this link for animated instructions for this knot and others too: Fly Fishing Knots

If you do you use a clinch knot think plus two. Whatever your tippet size, add two and that's the number of twists to use. 5X + 2 = 7 twists/turns.
