Korkers Streamborn

FlatBrook Forever!!
Hey guys,

I've been thumbing through the posts around here and can't seem to find any specific posts for the Korkers Streamborn wading boots. I've had my eye on these things for a while, I like the fact that they have interchangable soles. But I'd imagine there be some risk of losing a sole somewhere along a hike. Anyways, I'm trying to figure out if these are the ones for me, so if anyone has ever worn a pair, I'd love to know what you thought of them. I'm looking for a somewhat light-weight material boot (soft, broken-in feeling right out of the box). In the past, I'd used a cheap pair of hiking boots made of a light canvas material. Unfortunately, these boots might have spoiled me somewhat because they were EXTREMELY soft and easy to hike in right out of the box. If not the Korkers Streamborn, would you guys recommend another pair? And please don't suggest the Orvis Ultra-Lights, lol - They're an ABSOLUTELY last resort, haha -Thanks again, boys. - I appreciate the help, as always.

Tight Lines,
Slick

If you are going to get a korkers wading boot all i can say is i have had every type of boot they made in the last 6 years and this year i just picked up the guide boot and it is the best boot i have ever worn. IMO very light weight and no laces to deal with just slip them on and crank down on the knob and you are set. It is a very easy and fast set up. Very comfortable to walk in if you fish from morning until dark.

I had one pair of their boots that used the older velcro system to strap in soles. I ended up losing a bunch of soles over the year and a half I used the boots. Not to mention the boots got worn down pretty fast.

I know they have a new system for locking soles in, but I haven't tried or heard anything about them.

I heard the new Korkers have a better design to hold the soles in place. Also, they're cut a little wide; and I was told to order one size up. I plan on buying a pair, but not their discontinued model.

For what it's worth, I have a pair of Korker boots with the changable soles. I've had them 2+ years and never had a problem with the soles coming out.

I've also got an older pair with the back velcro to help hold them in. I've never had an issue with them either.

Weren't we discussing these same boots recently, and some people were complaining that the soles are too hard to get in......I guess you can't please everybody.

I like mine, and will certainly get another pair of Korkers when mine wear out.
