The only thing left should be foot prints.
I have been in basement the past few evenings replenishing my caddis dry fly box. I have this habit of giving my flies away to other guys on the stream while fishing. I was fishing last Friday and realized that I am very low on caddis dries. With my trip to the Adirondacks coming up, I decided that I was going to sit in front of the vise for a few hours each evening and tie. It also gets me out of enduring Dancing with the stars. A win win situation. I was doing good on Monday and last evening. I was averaging 4 dozen each night. I was going at a good clip I as pumping out Caribou and Elk wing caddis fly in 3 minutes. I had finished 12s,14s,16,18, I had tied 3 dozen of each complete a dozen of cream, olive , bright green is all the sizes.
tonight my wife comes down in the basement. I have 1 dozen of 20s finished, She stood there and was watching me. She said wow you can do that fast. I said I would hope so I just tied close to 90 of them. She goes back upstairs.
This when the fun began; the first thing that happens; the top of my hair stackers rolls off of my bench, rolls across the floor and under the clothes dryer. Not just where I can stick my fingers under it to retrieve the stacker. Nope it had to go to the middle of the dryer. I got that issue resolve. 2 minutes later I spill the entire box of caddis flies I had been tying all over my tying bench. Now my sizes are all in disarray. I get them all resorted. Too add salt into an opened wound and icing to the cake. The next thing that happens I drop an entire box of hooks on the carpeting. This baby was not a single box of hooks. This was a 20 compartment box with all of my dry fly hooks in it. About 1200 hundred hooks all over the carpeting by my bench. So there I am like a Jamoke on my hands and knees with a D-bag headlamp on and magnet picking up and sorting hooks for the next 2 hours. After that I decided to admit defeat and go back upstairs. My wife said how did you do with you fly tying. I said just great couldn’t been better.
