Sears & Roebuck 'Churchill' 9' 3 pcs. Split Bamboo Fly rod.

Hey, Does anybody out there have any knowledge about this rod?
I bought this one about 12 years ago from a non fishing ebay seller.
The seller had no idea of 'weight', and the pics looked so good I took a chance and bought it. I hoped to 'fish' the rod, but it is a heavy weight (7 or 8 wt I'd guess-no markings on rod?).
The rod had been nicely restored, is 3 sections, with extra tip, original sack,
and alum. tube. The reel seat is stamped 'Pat. Pending Aug. 20,1907'
Anyone venture a guess as to the weight, popularity, or current value of this
nicely restored Boo rod??

Try Clarks Classic Fly Rod forum. They have a section for identifying and apprasing bamboo rods. You'll have to post pictures though.

Heddon made bamboo rods for Sears so I'd guess it wouldn't be worth more than the $200 to $300 a Heddon would bring. South Bend made rods for them too. Sears probably sold the rod as a "Bass Rod".

I've seen JC Higgens (Sears) rods for sale on Craigslist in pretty decent shape for as little as $50, though most are in the $85 to $100 range.

Your rod would have been rated with a letter rating for line size as opposed as today's numeric system. Look for the letters on the rod. This chart gives you the conversion: Silk Line Ratings to Modern Fly Line Equivalents
