Dennis,
The Show is Jan 23-25
If I was to wager a guess, I would say that this show is visited by a good # of NEFF members.
To help put some faces to their monikers, I would like your permission to print up NEFF name tags to hand out at the show.
I've volunteered to work the DRF booth (Haven't got the green light yet but shouldn't be a problem.) and can hand them out there.
Word of Caution: I may put the hooks in the members that pick up a tag to donate or join the DRF! ;) ;) ;)
If we generate a list of attendees I can pre print them.

To the board:
Is this a good idea or am I all wet?

Jon, it's an EXCELLANT idea. Actually i think my membership in the DRF has expired so i need to re-up anyway. You'll find me tying at the CFTG table, most likely very near where you'll be volunteering. I'll be there all three days. If i'm not at the CFTG table, i'll be at the combined table of my wife's club, WFFJ and TGF. We share a table every year. If not there, i'm out buying materials, and watching tyers, and will return. mark

Dennis,
Since you are the computer guy do you have a logo or header in mind that you can e-mail to me for printing? Maybe something with some eye catching color?
I was thinking of getting some Avery stickons approx 4" wide by 3" high or 3 1/4" x 2 3/8"

The only logo I can think of is this one.

I'll try to think of a new one though, I've been pondering the idea for a while now.

Dennis,
That one looks fine but I won't print them until the show just in case you want to change it. I just saved it as a jpeg file but it wouldn't open - "Unknow file format"? I don't have a good photo program at work (Just MS Photo Editor) I'll try to open it at home.

Nice Idea:

I'll be tying with Willow all three days with the CFTG. See you at the show. Last year the guild was across from you guys. Hopefully will be again. Joe T. Are you planning to be there and on what days. Will tye you up some Black Turkeys at the show on the day that you are there.

Andy B

Andy,

Yes I should be there just not sure of the days yet.

I was wondering if you would be interested in tying some fllies up for me,about 6 dozen wets? And of course I would pay you for them.NO RUSH.By next march?

I just cant see myself tying them since I dont have the materials needed (for the wets),and I have never seen wets as nice as yours.

Six dozen by March 1, 2004, no problem. I do need to know what patterns you want and size. Pricing will be very reasonable, rest assured. Soon as you let me know, I will go to work on them A.S.A.P. Also thank you for the compliment.

Fly fishing show in Danbury Conn.?

Gentlemen,
Is there a large fly fishing show in Danbury Conn. the first part of January, and if so, where is it? Any help out there? M

The World of Flyfishing III will be held January 2-4 located in Danbury Conn, Held at the O'Neill Center on the West Conn Campus. Willowhead, Tyeflys, Rw and I will be there tying fly's at the Catskill Fly Tyers Guild table. I can not tell you much about this show. It's mainly due to this will be the first time that I tyed at this show. Mark or Allan should be able to tell about the show. I do know there will be lectures on fishing, Fly Tying classes and casting instructions. These items that I just listed are an additional cost to your admission. And by the way, did I mention that there will be lot's of vendors to buy things from. I will be there Saturday from 12 Noon - 3 PM and Sunday from 9:00 AM -12 Noon. Hope to see you there.

Andy B

I usually get to the show on Saturday, and I imagine I will again this year. I hope to meet up with some of you then.

Danbury

Mike, you call 'em gentelman, but they know who they really are, LOL. J/K. Yes, the show in Conn. is Jan, 2,3,4 and it's exactly the same thing as the "BIG" show in Somerset, just smaller. Basically a place for you to empty your pockets. But of course there are also lots of things you can learn by attending the educational aspects of the show. I've taken three tying classes, two of which were extra $, and one which was not extra $. The one that was not extra $, was basically where you just watch and ask questions........like a demo. There are quite a few of these type "classes." NJ, a Black Turkey is a very old wet fly pattern, peacock body, black turkey wing. mark

Danbury Show

I've been to both Danbury shows so far and found them to be a lot more intimate than the Somerset show. You might translate that to just being a smaller show, but I had the chance to sit down with Poul Jorgensen for 20 minutes, one on one, and discuss some ideas on stoneflys. Try that at Somerset... To date, it's been less crowded and easier to observe demonstrations. I'm close with a few of the personalities there and they have confided that they prefer the atomosphere and pace of the show as compared to some of the other locations. It's worth the ride for sure.

Intimate IS the "word." everyone says the same thing about the Danbury show. And, that it's very friendly. The "Fly Fishing Show" in Somerset, and i suspect at it's other locations is business, business, business. Spose it has to be in order to succede, or is that simply succ. LOL. Don't get me wrong, i LOVE alllllllllll shows. I'm a SUCKER for a show. But Danbury is a much nicer atmosphere, and way more relaxed. At this point, and because i've been going to these things over 10 yrs. now, i'd just as soon see them all no bigger than the I.F.T.S. last month. But that aint gonna happen. mark

I plan to be at the Somerset show on Friday and Saturday. I also plan to go to the Danbury show this year. See you all there.

bjm, you can find me at the CFTG table or at the combined table of TGF,WFFJ......sooner or later/eventually/enevitably, LOL all three days. If i'm not there, i'm either watching an atlantic salmon fly tyer, shoping for materials, or over in the bar in the hotel. Same goes for Danbury, cept they got no bar, LOL. Hey, i see your in Ulster county. You ever make it over to Roscoe? Don't forget about the "Gathering" June 31st thru May 6th. Bring the whole family. mark

Mark,

I know it doesn't matter because you'll be in the area anyway, but I think you should check the dates you posted.

Yea Jon, like I said in the other post, I didn't realize June had 31 days in it. Mark has to be dysleksic (or lysdeksic). I plan to join up with you guys on the 6th with my boat.

Bruce

Bruce,
Sounds good.
What kind of float would you like to do?
I guess where we float depends on water flow, temps etc.
If the water is up in June we can float from Stilesville.

I paln to be there Fri and Sat. Need to get info on Montana.

Joe McFadden
Medford, NJ

Jon, the kind of float also depends on who is fishing with me and what they want to do (ie dryfly, nymph, streamer, etc.) A good idea might me to do 2 short floats, one very early, maybe streamers, and another later with a break in the middle, although that time of year can be very productive all day.

Bruce

Montana

flycast, look for me at the CFTG table or the combined TGF/WFFJ table. Both located in the hallway out front, with the "combined table much nearer the entrance, on the left as you first walk in, and the CFTG table down near to the main entrance to the big hall, also on the left, right across from the DRF table. If you've never been to Montana i can help you out a bit. And if your the "other" Joe McFadden, well then..............LOL. mark
