Summer Wader Fishing for Stripers

Caneghost

The glint of sunlight on polished cane...
I need to find some decent wade fishing in the northeast this summer for stripers. I'm on a strict budget and can't go the guided route. I was thinking Cape Cod but was told a couple weeks ago that the water was getting a bit warm for shore fishing. I thought they were fioshable up there all summer from the beaches.

Any advice would be appreciated, shops to contact, etc.
Thanks

I dont do salt water fly fishing but i have dont salt water fishing alot, and as far for now the stripers are still out there but it is getting a lil warm lots of bluefish are moving in to the shorelines now great battle w them but not so good eating like the striper. I think cape cop would be just as good as Jersey shore with all the heat I grew up at the jersey shore and there is great fishing here.

If ur looking for a great spot the place to be is Sandy Hook, Manaquan Inlet or Belmar, they are all great beacuse the way the tides move through these places bait fish here are in almost millions garantee a great catch there are many bait shops here that will help u w any question u may have, and really no need for a guide.

the most popular fly fishing spot would be Sandy Hook and a another great thing if u havent been here before all the these places are Within a half hr or less from eachother. if u plan to stay for a a weekend or so u can deffinatly hit all three spots, and great place for family vacation too.

If you want to go to cape cod you can take a ferry relatively inexpensively to either the Brewster or Monnomoy islands. They drop you off and then pick you up at the end of the day. It will then be possible to wade the flats. Use discretion and check out a topographical map before you choose to use the shuttle service.

Did Monomoy a few times maybe ten or fifteen years ago. The shuttle was a great idea. Think we walked to the north and west side of the island and fished the rising tide during the middle of the day. Don't know how early you can get out there. Didn't bring a ladder. What is the plan of action if you want to do Monomoy these days? I'm sure the geography has changed tremendously ... Chatham looks so different!
