sstasiak,

Okay, let's see if I understand your questions.

When I'm fishing my 10 weight, named after a river in Scotland, with a swimmer nymph pattern for non-native rainbow trout in New Zealand, I might want to reach in my vest and change to a coffin fly or maybe a yellow sally imitation, and if an Alaskan silver salmon takes and runs against my cork drag, the Duncan loop tied in the .008 tippet will hold.

Do you think it would work?

Thanks to all those who participated. :thankyou:

Joe, it seems like you know your stuff. The only variance in your answer was with the spey question. The answer I got for that one was A and C. I think A is a questionable answer though. "A" simply describes the technique used to cast these rods and not the reason the "spey" rod is named that. Either way....good stuff. Here are the correct answers:

10 weight
Swimmer
both a and c
False
Coffin Flies
fly-fishing vests
Yellow Sally
silver salmon
cork
0.008"
Duncan Loop

Wow, I'm quite surprised at #1. I thought a 10wt was around 350 grains.

I'll have to dispute #3 too, just to be a stinker... :boxing: :chair: :guns: ;) From everything I've heard and/or read about, it was only named after the river. Spey-style roll casting with 2-handed rods originated on that river. But not all 2-handed rods are "Spey" rods. You can also Spey cast with traditional one-handed rods as well, so does that make them Spey rods by default?

But really, whatever :) . I did better than I thought anyway!!! Better than 50%, so I'm happy :D .

I can retain my title as o' knowledgable professor.... :stupid:

Wow I can't believe I said Lee Wulff originated Bamboo!Cane was here long before Wulff!!!One to many Drinks! :stupid:
