Project healing waters donations - HELP A DISABLED VETERAN TODAY.

I rarely venture off to other websites to read about fly fishing, they just don't interest me. Too many people out there patting each other on the back. Occasionally I'll venture off to get an idea or two.

So what I'd like to do is this. You tie 2 flies (Both the same fly). I'll judge the better of the two. The contest starts TODAY. Flies should arrive at my address no later than Saturday, April 13th. We're talking 2 flies here (per entry), you probably already have them tied.

Yeah I know, a free way for me to get flies. So to generate some interest, ALL flies will be donated to both of these fly fishing organizations (1 fly from each entry will go to each organization)

The prize for the best fly will be 1 Wulff Triangle Taper Fresh Water floating fly line. The fly lines retail for $70.00. I think 2 flies are a fair trade for the possibility of winning a $70.00 fly line.

How will the flies be judged? I will take photo's of each of them and put them into a voting category.

There is a $2.00 entry fee per entry so if you want to enter 2 sets of flies, the total will be 4 flies and $4.00. Each entry contains 2 flies. Entry fee will cover costs for shipping, shipping materials and to help absorb costs associated with this contest. Fly fishermen tend to be some cheap ass people who won't bat an eye at spending over $600.00 for a new rod!

To make the effort worth everyone's while, Let's see if we can get a minimum of 12 entries. I'm not going to ship out 4 flies to anyone. Once we confirm we have at least 12, the contest will be set in stone.

Once the winner of the contest chooses his/her fly line, it will be ordered and sent to you.

you are the classic fly tier that actually enjoys tying flies more than fly fishing. Its tough to be a great fisherman and a great tier. The best flies are typically sparse, simple, and don't appeal to tyers. The flies that flytiers like are usually over dressed, hackled, float high, have a history to them that needs to be told when referencing the fly, and if you are a true purist, they will not include modern materials, and/ or from your photo are in no way resembling of any nature insect that would be found on a stream. Did u actually use that line you won last year, or did you cut a piece of it off the spool and frame it with the fly that won the line in the den to add to the collection of fly tying achievements?

Actually I gave it to NYC to try and keep the doors from opening on the Subway station so no more water would enter the Subway and kill more rats and 75 other vermin found during major storms. Now I know you weren't in any way shape or form being condescending now were you :nose-picking::nose-picking: In the large cities they name their flies after themselves for self gratification and feeling one with nature since most never see a tree or encounter a stream except in floods in the subway. Oh well life goes on.

Paul, I can use a few C&F designs boxes in various sizes. I'm going to Montana this July. Ohhh.. these are going to Charity. 2 boxes would be great. Of course I'll send the flies (what's left of them) in their boxes out to the organizations as soon as I get back from Montana.

Good to hear that others are participating..I will have my flies in the mail this week...as well as Two dollars for postage..I am really not that cheap DC.....I have no objections to all going to healing waters...

I have sent my flies...12 size 14 Adams, two green caddis worms, and a bunch of classic wets that I tied learning the process.......I only enclosed one dollar......if you need the other dollar you can pick it up at my house..I'll PM you my address...
