Welcome back to the new NEFF. Take a break from Twitter and Facebook. You don't go to Dicks for your fly fishing gear, you go to your local fly fishing store. Enjoy!

the 'GATHERING', Roscoe, NY, spring '04

Mark,

Of course at night! Well a tying contest (if there is one) will be at night. Any casting contests will be during a 'dead-time' during the day.

Allan

Sounds good Allan. Have you ever talked with Scott the owner of the Red Rose about having tying sessions there? The Red Rose is awful small though, no real seperation from the bar itself. I still think it might be better over at the CFFC&M.......a place where we don't have alcohal involved. I have no problem with the guys enjoying a drink, but i do have reservations about the general public (and how much they may have had to drink) being in close proximity to our group. It only takes one jerk to ruin a nice eve. Not to metion we WILL want any of the gangs kids just as welcome as anyone. Maybe the Rockland House could work, if we sort of seperate ourselves from the bar area. Maybe use the smaller of the two dinning rooms if possible. I'll ask Tommy. mark..........j.m.t.c.

Good news guys and gals. The Reynolds House still has a few vacancies for the week of the "Gathering", (May 31st thru June 6th). The weekend is full already, but there are a few rooms in the hotel, and a few in the house, during the week. So if anyone can't make the weekend and needs a room during the weekdays, call them NOW! You can still try the Rockland House for the weekend, or the Roscoe Motel, or the Baxter House, or the Red Rose, or the Riverside Hotel and Cabins, or Creekside Cabins, and or the campgrounds. It IS getting very late though and EVERYTHING is going to be GONE SOON!!!!!! You might be able to get something at the campgrounds at the last minute, but i wouldn't count on it. I'm going to have Dennis put a "List" spot on the site so we can get a count of who's comming, OR, if you like, post your name here on this thread. In fact let's just save Dennis the trouble and make this thread the official, "If your comming" sign up sheet. Please don't get long winded about it, i've done a bad enough job of that myself. LOL. Just your name and a short i'll be there, and where your staying please. It will help a lot if i can get a count/idea of what to expect. So far we have close to 30 www.flyanglersonline.com members comming. Let's show 'em this site is also up for it.

One more, (well a few, lol) thing(s). When you post that you are comming, and where your staying, please indicate if your "IN" for the One Fly Pattern Contest, the Casting Contest, the Tying Contest, the Neversink River Day, the nightly tying sessions, and or the Sat. Night Diner. It'll help us have an idea of what to expect. Thankx a lot guys, mark........

Mark

I'm in, taking the week off :) .

The rest TBD.

Hi,

I will be there from June 1 to 6. I am bringing a friend and have a place in Callicoon. I met Allan's dog last year and decided I didn't want to sleep with it.

Mark:

I will be there May 31, 2004 through June 6, 2004. I am staying at the Reynolds house. I have one of the cottages reserved. Count me in For Saturday night Dinner and the Neversink Day. After that only the good lord and RW will know where I am. I will give a few wet fly tying lessons in the evenings to any and all that want to learn how to tie wet fly's.

Andy B

P.S. You missed a good day today at the Rendevous

tying

Lauder, yeah..........slic met Allan's dog last year too........forget how many stitches it took(?)........LMAO. Actually i don't think it was that bad. Glad you'll be with us again. Andy, i have already checked on your reservation. I stay in touch with Des all the time. I have even arranged for you to use the same space that the "motel" (Reynolds House) guest have their breakfast, for a fly tying demo/teachcing spot in the eve's. That is, if, you want a more focused.......private... and or secluded place to teach, away from the noise of a bunch of other tyers. If you don't mind distractions then just do it where ever we all end up. Which, most likely is now looking like it's going to be the Rockland House. Des has set up that room for tying in the eves. It seats about 9 people at a time. That should handle a class, don't you think? So, if you want to do it there, "think" no more than 8 students. Up to you. mark.........

Mark:

Not a problem. I like the idea of being able to tye and help give a few tying lessons to those who want to watch and learn at the B&B that I am staying at. I will probalbly stay at the Reynolds house to tye for those who really want a few pointers. After that I can see myself tying over at the Rockland house. Make sure to include me on June 6th's goodbye dinner. I will be tying wets all week for myself to use anyway. I just got the tying room usable and finally am tying wet flies again. Any how, talk to you lator. By the way, you really did miss a nice day at the Rondevous.

Andy

Hey Mark, If I show up in the Catskills Monday and Tuesday any chance I could park my Explorer in your driveway to sleep in?

Andy, what we'll do then, is have you tye with us all at the Rockland House on Mon. night (May 31st), and at that time or maybe Tue. we can get a feel for how many might want to take a private lesson. Course there's no way we're gonna know for sure until say Wed. or even Thur. just who's still on the way and very interested. Some guys might not make it until the weekend. So, we'll have to play it by ear. What i've always done anyway, lol. Just wanted to let you know, there is an option for more privacy if you need it.

Thankx a lot guys, .......

Andre, not a problem at all. My driveway can hold about 4 vehichles. Not to mention i now have a huge, (new and improved) turnaround, big enough for about 10 cars, (two rows of 5) side by side, thankx to the EPA. mark...........

Thanks Mark, Not sure at this point, depends on the weather, whether fish are up or not and rain. I'll be in a white Explorer. I look like my picture.(funny how that works)

Hey Mark, I'm back on the ranch at George's place and won't be able to attend any of the festivaties on Memorial Day weekend. The reason being it's Green Drake time on the "other Delaware" and thats where I'll be in the evenings while "The Gathering "is happening. Not to slight anyone, but I'd rather be be at a gathering of "Coffin Flies" being eaten by huge trout than a gathering of fly fisherman. But anyway I'll probably hook up with you sometime during that weekend ,but it won't be after 6:00 P.M. on any of those days. Maybe in the morning I'll stop by your place and say hello.:D :D :D

Willow, RW here,

I'll be there all week, and you know I"l be in for the Saturday dinner.

Andy, Allan,

After I left you guys last weekend I went back to my daughters for a couple days before returning to Maine. Did a "hat trick" on trout with a "you guessed it Andy", Light Cahill Wet, tied by none other than "Muwha". Brown, brookie, rainbow. The brookie went 2 lbs. even, 16 1/2 inches and looked like a stuffed Indiana hog. Wish I"da caught him on the willow, but that's for a future date.
The brown and rainbow weren't too shabby either...13 & 14 inches. Drove all the way back to Maine with a smile on my face. Oh, and I caught it on the little boo.

See ya'll at the "Gathering"...Keerist willow! Can't we just call it a fish-in. That's what their callin it over at FAOL. "The Gathering" sounds like a religious cult. Yer scarin me!

Later, RW

RW,

Well, all in all, it sounds like you had a GREAT weekend! I hear the Hendricksons are starting. Damn. Oh well, guess I'll just have to get down there and see for myself!

Later.

Allan

RW, LMAO. Had to change the name this year Bro. A Fish-In is just TO faol.........dig? LMAO again..........plus when you have 4 web-site/clubs/whatever invited, i thought "Gathering" was perfect. And actually if i remember right, it was Allan who first used the word "Gathering." I could be wrong; has been done, LOL. Anyway, don't really make any diff what we call it, do it? Call it a damn Shindig if you want. Or is that Chindig? LOL. Most important thing is to "Come ON Down!" Dig? mark............p.s. congrats on the fine fishin'

HI WILLOW
I will be going for the whole week staying at the renyolds house.Count me in for sat nite, wet fly tying with andy and the neversink on thur.I hope I could also fish the wets with R.W. and andy so they could show me how its done. Cant wait to see everyone(except allans dog).
later monty

ILooks like I'll be visiting the Genny in a couple of days. I've found that it is much less populated, by fishermen anyway, then Catskill waters. However, as soon as I can I'll get down there too! Weekdays down on the Beaverkill is almost like another world then on weekends but you all know that.

Monty, my dog will be with me and I'm even going to take him fishing occassionally. He's gotten better and doesn't bite indiscriminately anymore. Only on command! LOL.

Hey, now that it really feels like spring, time is going by fast. Only 29 days, more or less, till the Fish In. Start getting your sh*t together.

Allan

Monty, RW here

You sure can fish wets with Andy and me. Other than the covered bridge pool on the upper Beraverkill, I live on the willow when I'm down there. I also made up a few caddis in case the brookies are bitin like they were last year when Don (skilled) and BG fished it. Four weeks and it's gonna happen!

Later, RW

Allan, it was a ZOO down here this weekend. Must of been 20 to 30 guys in Carin's at a time. Fortunately we know where to go to get aways from all that. Fishing is really good though. Hatches are also very good. "It won't be long now."

For any and all who would like to do us, (Allan and i) a favor. Please go to www.flyanglersonline.com and sign the "I'm Comming" page of the Roscoe Fish-IN page, on the left hand column of the home page. Go to Fish-In's to find the link. Scroll down to the bottom of the Roscoe Fish-In story to sign up.

They still have rooms at the Riverside guys. The large cabins (2 bedroom) are newly refurbished and really nice. JUMP!

Don't forget everyone, to remember to bring your fly tying kit. Hate to see you get here without it.

mark.......

This will be the permanent 'THE GATHERING' Thread. Please do not take other threads off topic by jumping in and asking for people's attendance and offering places to stay for the Gathering, it's disrespectful to the conversations and questions that others are asking. It's just as if your were butting into someone elses conversation.

You will notice that I've removed a few of the gathering posts that were way off topic from the original thread.

If you're directing the Gathering at 1 individual, please do so via Private Message, everybody doesn't need to know the business between two people.

Thank you

Guys, here's the lastest on accomodations. The Reynold's House is sold out. The Baxter house is sold out. The Roscoe Motel is sold out, and i'm pretty sure the Creekside Cabins and the Riverside Motel and Cabins are also sold out. Rockland House still had two rooms left as of yesterday. Damn, sorta looks like 52ed St. "back in the days." LOL. Everybody cross your fingers for the Green Drakes........i've got a feelin' it's gonna hit perfect. Spossed to rain for the next 6 days........maybe then we'll have a serious run of good weather, with rivers in prime condition. Remember to pack your fly tying gear. mark.............

Jim,

Roscoe Campgrounds is about 3/4 mile outside of Roscoe heading west on Old 17. It's right on the Beaverkill. Sites might be available but you should probably call in advance. There are no plans for lunch , evening cocktails or dinners but those can be arranged among anyone independently. We will have fly tying sessions at the Rockland House after dark probably starting about 9:00. Make sure to stop by the Roscoe Diner for breakfast in the mornings (some guys may be there as early as 7:00am) to meet and discuss daily activity with anyone.

Allan
